About the tour

We start at the old cableway centre and the iconic towers that once carried coal from Longyeardalen to the harbour. On the way up you hear about the town, the people who shaped it, and how Longyearbyen became part of Norway.

The trail has some steep parts, but the view over Longyearbyen and Adventfjorden is worth every step. In winter you hike with snowshoes and a headlamp, and on a clear evening in the dark season you might see the aurora over the valley. Cookies and a hot drink are served.

The pace is adjusted to the group.

Physical Requirements
Demands average fitness. The terrain is uneven and partly steep, so this tour is not suitable if you have limited mobility.
