Summer Snowmobile & Glacier Hike
with Better Moments
About the tour
A fun mix of hiking and snowmobiling in early summer. After a briefing we start in Nybyen and hike about one hour up to Longyear glacier. The path is rocky, and we jump over a few small streams on the way.
Up on the glacier you learn to drive the snowmobile, and we ride about 4 km up to the pass at 600 metres. From the top you see Longyearbyen to the north and the valley Fardalen to the south. We have lunch and warm drinks with the view, then drive down and walk back through old moraines, where you might find a fossil.
Physical Requirements
Suitable for most without snowmobile experience, but you need to manage an hour of rocky hiking.
