About Us
We’re more than just a hostel. We’re a small team with big smiles, sharing the magic of Svalbard with every guest who walks through our doors.

Our story
Get to know us
Gjestehuset 102 began as a simple accommodation for miners — part of the town’s rich coal mining history. Over the years, it transformed into something more: a cozy, affordable guesthouse where travelers from all over the world could come together and feel at home.
We’re not a big hotel — and that’s what makes us special. At Gjestehuset 102, you’ll find fresh waffles in the morning, friendly faces in the common areas, and a warm, home-away-from-home feeling in the north.
Our mission is simple:
To welcome every guest with a smile, offer a comfortable place to rest, and share the spirit of Svalbard through genuine hospitality.
More than just a team – we’re a family
We come from different corners of the world — but we’re all here for the same reason: to make your stay in Svalbard welcoming, and memorable.
