Dogsledding
Mush your own team of huskies through the pristine Arctic landscape!
Few things feel more “Svalbard” than dog sledding! You’ll meet a group of friendly, strong huskies that are full of energy and excitement, ready to take you on a ride through the Arctic wilderness. After a short introduction, you’ll learn how to handle the sled and work with the dogs- then off you go, gliding silently through valleys and over frozen ground. In winter, you travel on snow-covered trails under the polar night or shining daylight.
In summer, the tours use wheeled sleds, so you can still experience the same feeling when the snow melts. Dog sledding is peaceful yet thrilling- it’s just you, the dogs, and the wide Arctic landscape around you. Most tours include a warm drink afterward and time to cuddle with the dogs. It’s a must-do experience for anyone visiting Svalbard, no matter the season.
