Half day dog sledding trip in Bolterdalen

About the tour
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel and by car take you through beautiful Advent valley, to our wilderness kennel in Bolterdalen. Here you will change clothes and get a throughout briefing from the guide, before we harness the dogs and set off into the beautiful valley of Bolterdalen. The kennel is located 12 kilometers outside Longyearbyen, and here you will receive thorough instruction in dog sledding, as well as help with harnessing the dogs before we drive off into Bolterdalen. Green dog is the furthest dog farm in the valley, so you get straight out into the wilderness! Bolterdalen is an area with limited scooter traffic.
We are sledding in pairs and in front the guide will be mushing with two guests. We take turns in steering the slsedge, so all who wishes to steer can try it.

We are mushing next to the frozen riverbed, which is surrounded by majestic mountains. When we reach the morrain, the dogs will be excited going up and down hill and the fun will last all the way back to the kennel. Back at the kennel, we will meet the latest generation of puppies and the guide will offer hot drinks, warm waffles & brandy in our heated log cabin.
This dogsledgetrip goes through beautiful Bolterdalen, which offers unique arctic scenery and good chances of observing artic wildlife, such as reindeer and ptarmigan. Dogs are perfect bear detectors. No experience is necessary.puppies.

Dress in layers – it’s the best way to stay warm. Remember: it is better to be too warm than to be too cold. And also – there is no bad weather, just bad clothing!
- Pick up and return to your hotel in Longyearbyen
- Suit, boots, mittens & hat for the sleigh ride. We provide you with suit,boots,mittens,hat and neck gaiter. Goggles if needed. We strongly recommend that you wear a woolen inner layer, a mid layer of fleece/wool or knitted, thick wool socks and handwarmers ( can be bought many places in Longyearbyen).
- A hot drink, warm waffles, bisquits and a glass of brandy in our heated log cabin after the tour
- Around 1,5 hours of dog sledding.
- A visit in the puppycage, after the tour.
Important Information
- When making the booking, please choose a hotel as pick-up spot. We only pick up from hotels, to avoid delays.
- Note that the guide will start picking up at 8/9/14/15 and therefore he may be a few minutes late.
- No sledding experience needed before this trip.
- We are sledding in pairs, using the guides own dogs.
- The guide will give you a throughout briefing before the tour.
- We end the trip with a visit at the puppies and coffee, cake and brandy in our cozy log cabin.
- Children from 12 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

- Bring a water bottle.
- Our guides are all very professional and passionated in their daily work with dogs & guests. They are certified and they participate yearly in the SGO (Svalbard Guide Course).
- Be aware that the local doctor does not recommend pregnant women to go dog sledding.
- This is an activity with live animals and it is therefore not possible to make longer stops for photography
- On all trips, at all times an experienced and armed guide will be around to protect you from polar bears. At Green Dog safety is our number one priority.

22 days prior to arrival give a full refund
8-21 days prior to arrival gives a 50% refund
0-7 days prior to departure gives no refund
Svalbard is beautiful, but also unpredictable. For your safety, our guides may need to move activities to another day or replace them with a different trip if conditions do not allow the original plan.
In rare cases, if the weather makes it impossible to run an activity at all, it may be cancelled. Should this happen, you will of course receive a full refund for the affected trip.
Your safety and comfort always come first, and we’ll do our best to make sure you still have a memorable experience.
