Polar Night Snowmobile to the Ice Pingo

About the tour
Ride into the Polar Night to one of the most fascinating landmarks near town: a towering ice pingo about 20 km from Longyearbyen. Drive your own snowmobile, or share one and swap drivers along the way.
Our route goes through the snowy Adventdalen, where we look for Svalbard reindeer under the moon and stars. At the pingo, your guide explains how this landform was created while we enjoy hot drinks and sweet treats. On the way back we stop at the old airport, where the remains of a World War II plane crash still lie. About 40-50 km in total.

Suitable for most without snowmobile experience. Very easy and flat terrain.

Dress in layers – it’s the best way to stay warm. It is better to be too warm than too cold!
- Professional guide with safety and communication equipment

- Snowmobile suit, boots, gloves, balaclava, helmet and goggles
- Search and rescue insurance
- Warm drinks and snacks
Recommended to bring
- Several layers of wool under the snowmobile suit
- Thin gloves to wear under the mittens
- A small backpack for camera and extra clothes
- Avoid down jackets under the suit
Important Information
- A valid driving licence for car, motorcycle or snowmobile, valid in Svalbard, is required to drive
- No refund if you cannot show a valid licence
- The route may be adjusted for weather and ice conditions
- Travel insurance is recommended
- All under 18 must be with an adult
- Children who cannot sit as a passenger ride in a heated sled
Cancellation Policy
22 days or more prior to departure gives a 95% refund
8-21 days prior gives a 50% refund
0-7 days prior gives no refund
If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing. There is no refund for route changes, sickness, cancelled or delayed flights or other things outside the operator’s control, so we recommend travel insurance.
