About the tour
Midnight sun evenings in Svalbard are something special. We ride through Longyearbyen and up onto Longyear Glacier for a great view over town, then on through wide valleys and across frozen rivers to Colesbay.
This is one of our favourite places in the evening, when the low sun covers the mountains, glaciers and old mining buildings in golden light. We walk around the abandoned Soviet settlement and hear its stories, and enjoy a warm expedition-style dinner before heading back. About 80-90 km in total.

Suitable for most without snowmobile experience, through some rugged terrain.

Dress in layers – it’s the best way to stay warm. It is better to be too warm than too cold!
- Professional guide with safety and communication equipment
- Transport to and from your hotel
- Snowmobile with fuel
- Snowmobile suit, boots, gloves, balaclava, helmet and goggles
- Search and rescue insurance
- Warm drinks, snacks and a warm expedition dinner
Recommended to bring
- Several layers of wool under the snowmobile suit
- Thin gloves to wear under the mittens
- A small backpack for camera and extra clothes
- Avoid down jackets under the suit
Important Information
- A valid driving licence for car, motorcycle or snowmobile, valid in Svalbard, is required to drive
- No refund if you cannot show a valid licence
- The route may be adjusted for weather and ice conditions
- Travel insurance is recommended
- All under 18 must be with an adult
- Children who cannot sit as a passenger ride in a heated sled
Cancellation Policy
22 days or more prior to departure gives a 95% refund
8-21 days prior gives a 50% refund
0-7 days prior gives no refund
If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing. There is no refund for route changes, sickness, cancelled or delayed flights or other things outside the operator’s control, so we recommend travel insurance.
