A Historic Walk in Adventdalen
with Hurtigruten Svalbard
About the tour
Imagine spending the whole dark season in a small cabin, miles from the nearest person. On this walk you get a feel for how life in Svalbard was before modern times, and why people chose this life.
We start in Adventdalen and walk out into the wilderness while your guide tells stories from the trapper era, the coal mining years and today, when research, science and tourism shape life on the islands. You also hear about the climate research that makes Svalbard so important for the world.
On tours in the dark, headlamps are provided, and with luck the aurora lights up the sky.
Physical Requirements
Suitable for most people. A walk on uneven tundra.
