We dress warmly and drive our ATVs into Svalbard’s summer landscape, where deep valleys and high mountains are home to the Svalbard reindeer and polar fox.

Historical highlights
We drive our Can-Am Outlander ATVs from Longyearbyen and into Advent Valley, making several stops along the way at historical sites where our guides will share their knowledge and personal insights about the nature, coal mines and culture.
Even though we are so far north, the rich fauna here means that wildlife sightings are also possible. It is not uncommon to see the Svalbard reindeer grazing on the tundra and in the summer months there is a rich and unique bird life.

We pass Longyearbyen’s old airport and visit our good friends in the dog yard of Svalbard Husky. There are many eager dogs waiting for our full attention. Maybe we meet Obelix, Nansen, Gandhi and Chaplin. The puppy litters are often named after films, books or series. We take a break here and serve coffee, tea, hot toddy and biscuits before we are heading back to Longyearbyen.

The Arctic Seasons
ATV Safari is available from when the snow melts until the Polar Night arrives in November. During the summer months from May to August, it’s light around the clock and you can experience the Midnight Sun. If you go on this tour in the autumn, the colourful tundra and snow-covered mountain peaks are not an uncommon sight.
Please note that all drivers must hold a valid physical driving license for a passenger car/class B that must be brought on the trip. Only valid Norwegian digital driving licenses for a passenger car/class B are accepted as an alternative to a valid physical driving license.

Important Information

Drivers on this trip must hold a valid driving license for a passenger car/class B and bring their physical license on the trip. (only Norwegian licenses are accepted in digital form). The participant is obliged to ensure that the driver’s license is valid in Svalbard and Jan Mayen, and to contact the responsible authorities in case of any questions. The guide will check each participants’ driver’s license and will refuse participation if necessary. No refunds will be given due to an invalid driver’s license
We recommend warm clothing to wear under the winter suit such as wool underwear, wool socks, thick sweater and extra mittens
A small backpack for extra clothing and other items
For participants driving on this excursion, it is required that you speak and understand English or a Scandinavian language

Ensure that your driver’s licence is valid in Svalbard

To drive a snowmobile or ATV in Svalbard, you must have a driver’s licence for passenger car/class B.
For snowmobiles, driving entitlement for categories A, A1, A2 and S (snowmobile) may also be accepted.
The driver’s license must have been issued in a country that is a party to the Geneva Convention of 1949 or the Vienna Convention of 1968 on road traffic. Digital certificate is only valid if it is issued in Norway.
You do not need additional documentation if your driving licence meets the model requirement under one of the conventions. All driving licences from EU/EEA countries meet this requirement.
If your driving licence is from a country outside the EU/EEA, you should check if it meets the model requirement under one of the conventions.
If your driving licence does NOT meet the model requirement, you will need the following in addition to your driving licence:
An authorised Norwegian translation of your driving licence, or
An international driving licence that meets the model requirements
Driving licences from countries that are not party to the Geneva or Vienna Conventions
You may use your driving licence for three months if it meets both of the following criteria:
It meets the model requirement under one of the conventions.
It is in a Scandinavian language, English, French or German.
If your driving licence does not meet both requirements, when driving you need to carry with you both your regular driving licence and an international driving licence that meets the model requirements.

Cancellation 21-8 days before activity: 50% refund
Cancellation 7-0 days before the activity: is considered a no-show and is non-refundable
If you have travel insurance, you can normally seek reimbursement directly from the insurance company in the event of illness or other unforeseen events, usually against a medical certificate.
