Snowmobile to Van Mijenfjorden
with Poli Arctici
About the tour
From Longyearbyen we ride through Adventdalen and south into Reindalen, one of the biggest and most impressive valleys in Svalbard, before reaching Van Mijenfjorden.
We share a warm lunch with a view over the fjord and explore the colours and patterns of the sea ice. With luck, we might see polar bears out on the ice. In the afternoon we ride back the same way or via Colesdalen and Longyear glacier, depending on conditions. You rarely meet other groups out here.
Physical Requirements
Previous snowmobile experience is an advantage. Day trip through some rugged terrain.
Practical information
Included in the trip
Dress in layers – it’s the best way to stay warm. It is better to be too warm than too cold!
- Local guide
- Your own snowmobile, or a seat as passenger
- Warm lunch
Recommended to bring
- Several layers of wool under the snowmobile suit
- Thin gloves to wear under the mittens
- A small backpack for camera and extra clothes
- Avoid down jackets under the suit
Important Information
- A valid car or motorcycle licence is required to drive. Passengers do not need one
- Drivers must be at least 18 years old
- Passengers from 10 years, maximum age 67
- Minimum 4 participants
