About the tour

The Northern Lights are best seen away from the streetlights, but in Svalbard you cannot just walk out of town at night because of polar bears. This tour solves both problems.

Your guide picks you up and checks the aurora forecast, clouds and roads before choosing the route. We stop at viewpoints outside Longyearbyen and step out into the dark to watch the sky, then warm up in the van. One stop is the Global Seed Vault, lit up against the mountain, where you hear why seeds from almost every country are stored here.

No aurora? You still get an evening drive through the Arctic darkness, the Seed Vault stop and stories from a local guide.

Physical Requirements
Easy. Short walks on snow and ice close to the vehicle.
