If you are are arriving later than the reception opening hours, you will find your key in an envelop with your name and room number written in it. This envelop will be found inside the post box, just outside the guesthouse door. Your key opens the main door. Please come to the reception the morning after and show some legitimation.
For the transportation, there is an Airport Shuttle Bus every arrivals and departures. There is no need to book. This costs 75,- NOK per person, cheaper when you buy the 2-way (tur-retur) ticket.
Taxis are also available for around 150-200 NOK.

1.) Is breakfast included?
Yes, from 07:30 to 10:00 on the 1st floor.
2.) What is offered at breakfast?
The buffet, continental breakfast includes wheat bread, flat bread, cereals & flakes, different jams, some fruit cuts & juice, ham, pepperonis and more.
3.) Do I have to bring my own towels?
Bed linens and towels are provided. Just bring toiletries (or buy at the reception) and indoor slippers.
4.) Can I wash and dry clothes at the hostel?
Yes, we offer this service for 200,- NOK per bag (or maximum a machine can take). Dryer included.
5.) Can I cook inside the hostel?
There is a self-catering kitchen located on the 2nd floor, equipped with all necessary equipment. Foods can be put on the refeigerators, but has to be written your name and check-out date, otherwise it will be thrown. Please make sure to follow the cooking precautionary measures as well.
6.) Do you have rooms with private bathrooms?
In Gjestehuset 102, all bathrooms/toilets and all other facilities are shared.
7.) Can I smoke inside the building?
The whole building is non-smoking. Smoking is only allowed outside.
8.) Do you have a conference/meeting room?
The coffee room can be rented as a meeting room, just let us know in advance. The room can accommodate up to 30 people. Projector is provided.
9.) Do you have a restaurant in the building?
No, we do not but there is a restaurant just 50m from the hostel.
10.) Is it possible to add extra bed or mattress in the rooms?
Yes, for single and twin/double rooms. Max 1 bed/mattress per room. Mattress costs 350,- NOK per night and bed costs 500,- NOK per night.
11.) I will arrive very late/after midnight. Can I still check in?
Yes. For the late arrivals, you will find your key in a white envelop with your name and room number written in it. This envelop will be placed in the postbox outside the door. The key to your room suits the main door.
Please come to the reception the morning after and show some legitimation.
12.) How do I get to the Gjestehuset 102 from the airport and vice versa?

13.) Is it safe to walk around Longyearbyen?
The pink-shaded areas on this map are areas considered to be safe. Take a look. We are at Nybyen, close to nature- glaciers, mountains and wildlife.
14.) How do I get to the town centre from the hostel? Is there any public transportation?
To go to the town centre, it is either by walking or getting a taxi.
It would take around 25 minutes to walk, depending on the weather and fitness. When the weather is good, it would be very nice to walk, enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the historical surroundings.
15.) How do I book activities?
Very easy. Use our Activity Calendar and you’ll find all the activities available on your selected dates. It is usually better to book in advance to secure a slot.
When already at the hostel, you will find an Activity Booking Station in front of the reception which operates 24/7. If having problems or want to ask recommendations, please do not hesitate to ask the reception.
16.) How do I attend to the activities I want to book?
Most tour operators (depends on the activity) pick the guests up from different hotels. Upon booking, you will see a pick-up point box, select Gjestehuset 102.
17.) How can we see Polar Bears?
There are no activities that aim for Polar Bears. We cannot chase them. However, the highest chances of seeing them are through Boat Trips during summer- they usually stay close in glaciers. You can see all boat trips here.
18.) I am a photographer and want to photograph wildlife, especially polar foxes. What activity do you recommend?
