About the tour
The adventure starts at our basecamp with a safety briefing and clear instructions on how to drive the snowmobile. No experience is needed. Then we leave Longyearbyen behind and head into Adventdalen and the valleys around it.
The route depends on the weather, snow and cloud cover, and the guide uses local knowledge and forecasts to give you the best chance of seeing the aurora. We stop several times to watch the sky and take photos, and you hear stories about Svalbard history, nature and mining heritage. Keep an eye out for reindeer, Arctic foxes and ptarmigan.

Suitable for most people without snowmobile experience, through some rugged terrain.
Practical information
Included in the trip
Dress in layers – it’s the best way to stay warm. It is better to be too warm than too cold!
- Transfers from and to your hotel
- Hot drinks and snacks
- Certified local guide with polar bear protection
- Snowmobile suit, balaclava, boots, mittens, helmet and goggles
- Safety equipment and search and rescue insurance
Recommended to bring
- Wool base layer and a thick sweater or fleece
- Thin gloves for under the mittens and a hat
- A water bottle
- Avoid puffy jackets under the suit
Important Information
- A valid car or motorcycle licence is required to drive. Passengers do not need one
- Children from 10 years, with an adult
- Pick-up time can vary a little depending on your hotel
- No refund for sickness, delayed flights or other things outside our control
Cancellation Policy
22 days or more prior to departure gives a 95% refund
8-21 days prior gives a 50% refund
0-7 days prior gives no refund
If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing. There is no refund for route changes, sickness, cancelled or delayed flights or other things outside the operator’s control, so we recommend travel insurance.
