Sleep Inside a Glacier – 2-Day Snowmobile Expedition

About the tour
Very few people ever spend a night inside a glacier. On this 2-day expedition we ride through frozen valleys and over glaciers deep into the wilderness, with plenty of stops for photos and wildlife like reindeer, Arctic fox and seals.
With helmets and headlamps we explore the ice caves, where meltwater has carved passages of crystal-blue ice. After a warm expedition dinner, you sleep in the cave, wrapped in warm sleeping gear and complete silence. In the morning we melt snow for breakfast and ride back to Longyearbyen by late morning.
Physical Requirements
Previous snowmobile experience is an advantage. Some rugged terrain and crawling in the ice cave.

Included in the trip
Dress in layers – it’s the best way to stay warm. It is better to be too warm than too cold!

- Snowmobile suit, boots, gloves, helmet and goggles
- All meals and warm drinks
- Warm sleeping bag and mat (or hammock) and overnight equipment
- Search and rescue insurance
- Climbing equipment for the ice cave
Recommended to bring
- Warm wool clothing for under the suit
- Thin mittens to wear under the big mittens
- Hiking boots with a stiff sole
- A backpack for your camera and extra clothes
Important Information
- This trip depends on weather and ice conditions
- A valid driving licence for car, motorcycle or snowmobile, valid in Svalbard, is required to drive
- No refund if you cannot show a valid licence
Cancellation Policy
22 days or more prior to departure gives a 95% refund
8-21 days prior gives a 50% refund
0-7 days prior gives no refund
If you need to cancel, please let us know in writing. There is no refund for route changes, sickness, cancelled or delayed flights or other things outside the operator’s control, so we recommend travel insurance.
