Majestic mountains, powerful waterfalls, and fresh sea spray. This is the trip for those who want to experience Svalbard’s magnificent summer landscape up close, both by sea and on foot.
A spectacular boat trip through Isfjorden
We start with a safety briefing and help with gear at our tour production before we head out in our open RIB boats toward Elveneset. In a open RIB boat, you get a close and real experience of the stunning landscape in Isfjorden. As we move through the fjord, the fresh Arctic air surrounds us, and you can see the steep mountains rising from the coast.
While the scenery is impressive, summer also brings lots of wildlife. The fjord comes alive and gives a great chance to see the rich Arctic nature. We watch for nesting seabirds like puffins, guillemots, and fulmars. With some luck, we may also see seals, whales, or maybe a walrus—all living well in Isfjorden’s rich waters.
A journey through Svalbard’s past
When we get close to Elveneset, the feeling of being in the middle of Svalbard’s wild nature grows stronger. The land is open and grand, with views stretching far in every direction. In this great scene stands Tempelfjellet on the other side of the fjord, a mountain with shapes and layers that look like an old temple. Local hunters have called it “the world’s most beautiful mountain,” and it’s easy to see why. The fjord arms around here have been used for travel for many years and hold stories of expeditions, hunting, and life in a remote place.
Hike to Hyperittfossen
We land at Elveneset and start a hike through the Arctic land. Our goal is Hyperittfossen, a strong waterfall that falls down dark volcanic rocks. When we reach the falls, we take a well-earned break and enjoy a warm lunch surrounded by the great nature.
If you have been to Svalbard in winter, you might have seen this place with the waterfall frozen, a popular and special sight in winter. In summer, it is harder to get here, making this trip a rare chance to see the difference between summer’s lively nature and winter’s icy calm.
