Northern Lights Hunt with Snowcat

with Hurtigruten Svalbard

TAKE A DRIVE IN THE POLAR NIGHT

Take the whole family along, and join us on an exciting snowcat trip as we hunt for the northern lights. The snowcat is impossible to miss when it parks outside your hotel, but as soon as you have exchanged the town for the wilderness, the vehicle will seem very small, and the wilderness very big. An aurora hunt by snowcat is a great way for people of all ages to leave civilisation behind. The trip is not physically demanding, and is also suitable for children.

Your guide will take you out of town, away from the lights of Longyearbyen, and into the magical polar night. You will drive out over the frozen Adventdalen, with several stops along the way to look for the northern lights.

This is the perfect expedition for those who wish to leave the town in a safe and comfortable way. Due to the polar night between early November and late January, you have the chance of seeing the aurora at any time of day, even at lunch time. The lights may seem lighter and more fleeting than those at night, but they are often more colourful, and make for a fascinating sight.

We advise you to dress warmly so you can enjoy the northern lights from outside.
